Polysomnographic Technologist (also applies
to Trainee)
Reports to Clinical Manager. Interacts with technologists,
clinical patients, research participants, physicians, hospital personnel,
Neurocare management and administrative staff.
Scope of duties
The polysomnographic technologist works under the direction of a physician
who practices sleep disorders medicine and performs a variety of polysomnograms
and other sleep disorders tests. The technologist also scores reports.
The nighttime polysomnographic technologist is primarily responsible
for obtaining an artifact-free polysomnographic data on at least two
patients. The technologist must be able to recognize when sleep apnea
is present, know when to initiate CPAP (Continuous Positive Air Pressure),
titrate CPAP to achieve an optimal therapeutic level, and verify that
all data are adequate and that all objectives are being met. The technologist
must be familiar with all safety and emergency procedures. The technologist
is also responsible for providing administrative paperwork to NIs
central office. The PSG technologist may also provide services to
the companys research patients.
Specific responsibilities
- Performs patient set-up, and cares for overnight patients during
the all night recording
- Obtains artifact-free polysomnographic data
- Scores reports
- Serves as NI representative at client hospitals

Skills

equipment while also taking initiative to continue education
Requirements
- Valid and current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification
- High school diploma is a minimum requirement
Physical job requirements
Must be able to assist patients with disabilities or ambulation problems.
Requires bending, and lifting patients and equipment.
Salary
Commensurate with experience
