At Neurocare, we provide comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of
sleep disorders. You can refer patients
for expert sleep testing, with or without a consultation with
an expert sleep specialist.
During a consultation, our sleep specialist will record a detailed
history and perform a comprehensive examination to diagnose and
begin to treat your patient's sleep-related problems. We will explore
the potential interaction of sleep disturbances and other medical
and psychiatric issues. The specialist will determine which, if
any, sleep tests are appropriate for your patient. In some cases,
patients may not benefit from overnight sleep testing. For example,
the specialist may prescribe medication or educate a patient with
insomnia about non-pharmacological measures to improve sleep. In
other cases, sleep tests may be tailored to the specific needs of
a patient. For example, a patient suspected of narcolepsy may benefit
most from an overnight polysomnogram followed by a next day Multiple
Wakefulness Test.
After testing is completed, the sleep specialist will meet with
your patient to review the results and initiate treatment. If CPAP
treatment is recommended, we will provide your patient with the
appropriate CPAP mask and machine the morning after the sleep study.
Our sleep specialists will provide follow-up care to maximize compliance
and address all issues related to your patient's sleep disorder.
